With the development of coordination chemistry, crystal engineering of supramolecular chemistry and coordination polymer has become a most important subject of intensively research in inorganic chemistry, and has been rapidly expanding in recent years, not only because of their intriguing structure and topological features, but also their potential applications in fluorescence, magnetism, electrical conductivity, catalysis, separation, and so on. In this paper, organic ligands were chosen as the main building units to constructed novel stuctures with transition-metals and lanthanide.In this paper, 4,5-imidazoledicarboxylia acid, 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid were chosen as ligands, five transition-metal compounds Zn(H2ImDC)2(H2O)2 (1); [Cd(H2ImDC)2(H2O)3]·H2O (2); Zn(H2ImDC)2(H2O)2·(4,4'-bpy) (3);Cu(HBTC)(H2O)3 (4); ZnCl2(4,4'-bpy) (5) were synthesized through hydrothermal method. All of the above compounds exhibit characteristic structure. Two lanthanide compounds [Sm2(bpdc)3(H2O)2]·5H2O (6); Eu2(ImDC)2·4H2O (7); Two transition-lanthanide (d-f) mixed metal coordination compounds [Eu2Zn4(4,4'-bpy)4(IMDC)4(H2O)8]·2H2O·[Zn2Cl8]1/2 (8) andEu3Ag2(ImDC)(HImDC)4(H2O)2 (9) were synthesized under hydrothermal condition. Compounds 1,2, 3 present 3D supermolecule framework through weak intermolecular interactions (hydrogen bonds, p-p stacking) between ligands. Compounds 4 and 5 are connected into 1D Zigzag chains structures. Compounds 8 and 9 are the transition-lanthanide (d-f) mixed metal coordination polymers. And compounds 1-9 were characterized utilizing elemental analysis, FT-IR. Thermal stability and fluorescence properties were studied on parts of these compounds.
