Magnesium alloy possesses many advantages with low density, high specific strength and specific stiffness, strong capacity of anti vibration and damp, excellent electromagnetic shielding, easy recovery and so on. Magnesium alloy will be comprehensively used in electronic, car, vehicle, aviation and spaceflight fields and so on. It has important realistic meaning and economic worth to study the stamping formability of magnesium alloy sheet.Due to the close-packed hexagonal structure of magnesium, the magnesium alloy sheet has poor formability under room temperature and low rate of finished products ,which has restrict its application. The main object of this paper is to seek for the best stamping process parameters of magnesium alloy sheet through the physical experiment and expands its application fields. The major directions of this article are sheet drawing and sheet bending which are widely used in stamping process and the AZ31B sheet metal was chozen as the experimental material because of its widely used application and its excellent performance. The main work are as follows:A setup for the stamping of magnesium alloy sheet was carried out including a special furnace to heat the sheet and a system to heat and control the temperature of the mold.Through the tube drawing experiment, the influence of the forming temperature, the blank holding force, the die gap, the punch radius, the lubrication conditions and the heating time were studied and the proper process parameters were obtained from the experiment.Through the V-shaped bending, the influence of the forming temperature, the bending radius ,the lubrication conditions and the dwell time to the springback were studied and the temperature influence to the minimum bend radius of AZ31B were also studied. The approximate range of bend radius of AZ31B sheet matal at different temperatures were initially determined.
