There are four chapters in this paper:Chapter 1. Review: the progress of extraction of nickel, cobalt and copperThe latest development of liquid-liquid solvent extraction of nickel, cobalt and copper extractants has been summarized in the first part. The formation and the development of solid-liquid extraction have been reviewed based on the type of extractants according to the current scientific research work. The future research directions of solid-liquid extraction techique were given constructively.Chapter 2. Solid-liquid extraction of nickel, cobalt and copper with di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P204) into molten paraffin waxThe solid-liquid extraction behavior of nickel, cobalt and copper with di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P204) into molten paraffin waxs was studied in the second part. The effects of time to chieve equilibrium, P204 concentration, pH of aqueous phase on the extraction were discussed. The stoichiometry of the extracted species of nickel(â…¡), cobalt(â…¡) and copper(â…¡) was determined on the basis of slope analysis method. Extraction equilibrium constant and thermodynamic datas were also determined and discussed. Research datas indicated that copper(â…¡)can be separated from nickel(â…¡) and cobalt(â…¡) with mixture of P204 and TBP.Chapter 3. Solid-liquid extraction of nickel, cobalt and copper with mono-(2-ethylhexyl)2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P507) into molten paraffin waxThe solid-liquid extraction behavior of nickel, cobalt and copper with mono-(2-ethylhexyl)2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P507) into molten paraffin waxs was researched in the third part. The effects of various factors on the extraction were discussed. The stoichiometry of the extracted species of nickel(â…¡), cobalt(â…¡) and copper(â…¡) was determined on the basis of slope analysis method. Extraction equilibrium constant and thermodynamic datas were also determined.Chapter 4. Determination and recovery of nickel and cadmium from spent nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteriesIn the last part, the recovery of Ni and Cd from spent nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries was studied. A hydrometallurgical process containing acid leaching, electrochemical deposit and chemical precipitation was carried out for recovery of nickel and cadmium from spent batteries. The solid-liquid extraction separation of Ni and Cd with di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P204), mono-(2-ethylhexyl)2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (P507) and tri-n-butyl-phosphate (TBP) and their combination were investigated respectively. The extraction recovery and separation of Ni and Cd is achieved by controling the composition of mixture extractants.
