Titanium dioxide (TiO2) based materials are extensively studied in areas such as photocatalyst and photovoltaics. Recently, N-doped TiO2 (TiO2-xNx) has received much attention as a promising photo- catalyst for its visible light activity and low synthesis cost. In our work, TiO2-xNx film was synthesized on indium-tin oxide (ITO) conducting glass substrate by hydrolysis method, then deposited NiO film onto the TiO2-xNx photocatalyst film by chemical bath deposition (CBD).We study the property of ITO/ TiO2-xNx film and ITO/TiO2-xNx/NiO films by way of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-vis spectra.Chapter 3 has studied the preparation of TiO2-xNx by sol-gel method and triethanolamine was used as N-source. Chapter 4 studied the photoelectrochemical property of TiO2-xNx film through UV-vis spectra, cyclic voltammograms, photocurrent-time method and photovoltage-time method. The result showed that the TiO2-xNx annealed at 500℃represented advanced photoelectrochemical property compared to those annealed at other temperature and pure TiO2.Chapter 5 studied the photoelectrochromic property of ITO/TiO2-xNx/NiO films.The photoelectrochromism of the ITO/TiO2-xNx/NiO films were discussed through the UV-vis absorption spectra, cyclic voltammogram (CV) and photocurrent transient measurements. The films change its color from colorless to brown upon irradiation. The transmittance can be varied by 70% at 500nm. Additionally, the transmittance can be varied from 86.8% to 14.5% at 500nm when the films was given an external voltage.
