Mechanical oil pumping is the main way to conventional oil pumping at home and abroad, and oil pumping with pole is the technology used most extensive on world oil pumping trade, the elevation dominate on the oil pumping engineering up to now. But because of the serious condition of oil pumping pole, it has been the most feeble portion in oil pumping with pole that restrict the development as a soft spot on oil pumping method. In nation many oilfields have little leakages and along with the exploitation from forepart into the late stage and augment on petroleum layer's deepness, energy consumption has been one of the main factors to many oilfields with medium or small output. In recent years, the wire rope sucker rod has obtained the preliminary success in the domestic oil field's application, demonstrated the strong vitality. During the oil pumping recovery process, the wire rope sucker rod pumping bolt bears the no symmetric load action, so the wire rope sucker rod's main failure modes is fatigue fracture.For enhancing wire rope sucker rod's operational reliability and its service life, the paper applied reliability theory, fracture mechanics and analysis of fault trees. We propose the corresponding preventive measure. Has conducted the research to the wire rope sucker rod's characteristic, discovered that there have a layer of compressing stress on peculiar wire surface, and it's advantageous in the fatigue life enhancement. Has carried on the analysis to the wire rope sucker rod's stress, thought that the wire rope sucker rod bolt support would be drawed on the lower part with the name action of compressing alternative load. The alternative load is the main cause that cause fatigue failure of the wire rope sucker rod.According to the modern fatigue strength theory and the reliability theory, the wire rope sucker rod design turns to the fatigue strength reliable design from the static intensity and the conventional fatigue strength design. The design has provided the theory method for using process of the wire rope sucker rod to the fatigue strength forecast.Has extrapolated with the static characteristic the wire rope sucker rod's fatigue life, and has conducted the research to the wire rope sucker rod's P-S-N curve, has provided the reference for the correct choice and the safety handling the wire rope sucker steel rod. Has applied fracture mechanics and reliability theories to study its fatigue life, and has afforded the reference for establishment of the wire rope sucker rod's serving period and repairing period.
