In this paper,low carbon steel/stainless steel clad metal was presented using cold-drawn and Liquid-Soild diffusion bonding when Cu Foil and H62 Brass Foil was used as intermediate materials.The effect of diffusion temperature,diffusion time and cold drawn on the microstructure, component and bonding performance of the diffusion bonding zone of low carbon steel/stainless steel were examined by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation, energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) analysis, electron probe microscope analysis(EPMA), microhardness test and compression shear strength test.The results show that the metallurgical bond of low carbon steel and stainless steel can be achieved by the process of cold-drawn and Liquid-Soild diffusion bonding when Cu Foil and H62 Brass Foil was used as intermediate materials; There was a asymmetry in the process of luquid-solid phase diffusion bonding of low carbon steel/stainless steel and the structures of bonding interfaces has significant difference,the characteristics of structures evolution also have significant differences when the bonding on the lower temperature and higher temperature.When dffusion bonding using H62 Brass Foil as intermediate materials at 950℃,the side of carbon steel near the Carbon Steel/Brass interface forming a diffusion transition region and chromium carbide form at the Carbon Steel/Brass interface. At the same time,uncontinuous island-form iron-rich phase formed along the Carbon/Brass interface and distribute in copper matrix.But when dffusion bonding at higher temperature,the side of carbon steel near the Carbon Steel/Brass interface have not form a diffusion transition region and chromium carbide have not form at the Carbon Steel/Brass interface.Continuous island-form iron-rich phase form along the Carbon/Brass interface and then grow to copper matrix.Island-form structure of the bonding zone increase with increasing diffusion temperature or time or drawn.After X-ray diffraction analysis,the island-form structure is face-centered cubic austenite.When Cu Foil was used as intermediate materials, the bonding region have similar evolution characteristics with the bonding region of low carbon steel- H62 Brass-Stainless steel diffusin bonding at higher temperature.Through the bonding performance test,shear strength of bonding zone, respectively,could reached more than 280MPa and 300MPa when using H62 Brass Foil and Cu Foil as intermediate material and shearing strength of bonding zone increase with the increasing diffusion time or diffusion temperature or drawn.
