The rolling schedule is the main technological substance in strip production, and it is the fundamental guarantee for the rolling mill capacity, product quality and accuracy and the quality of shape. With the rapid development of rolling technology, the rolling schedule only based on the experience can not satisfy the production requirements. But at present, in the field of single stand reversible cold strip mill, the research on artificial intelligence optimization of rolling process schedule is very little. In this paper, the research on the theory and test of artificial intelligence optimization of single stand reversible cold strip mill rolling schedule are implemented based on the engineering practice of the Improvement of hydraulic AGC and electric drive system for a 1422mm single stand reversible cold strip mill rolling in a steel plant. This research has important theoretical significance and practical engineering value.First of this paper, a set of rolling mathematics models are confirmed by analysis and comparison which are fit for this rolling mill. To make full use of the equipment potential, the object function of load distribution is made which the rolling force is proportional. And then, the function is solved by Genetic Algorithm and the result is compared with the formerly rolling schedule. The optimized rolling schedule is more rational by comparison. To choose a more conformable optimization algorithm to engineering practice, the rolling schedule is optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization. As compared with the optimized result of GA, it is confirmed that PSO has advantage at aspects of convergence speed, calculation precision and searching ability. So PSO will be used for engineering practice. After the repetitious experimentation and based on the practice, PSO is improved befittingly and a set of rational parameters are selected. The improvement increases the convergence speed, reduces the calculation time and satisfies the requirement of on-line production. By the optimization of IPSO for engineering practice we have attain the goal of reducing energy consumption of the equipment and improving production efficiency.The upper computer system made up of computers and touch panels havebeen designed and exploited on the software platform of WinCC and WinCC flexible and it have communicated with the lower computer system successfully. This system have many functions such as computing the rolling schedule, monitoring the rolling state, managing data, recording alarms, product report, and so on.
