Nanobiotechnology integrates nanotechnology with modern biology. It provides a new aspect on the research of biofunction of nano-materials and is beneficial to the development of biomedicine. Nanobiotechology has attracted intensive attention since its appearance and presented great potentials of application in various fields. In the first part we investigate the effect of nano-sized rare earth oxides on the autophagy of HeLa cell. Autophagy is a dynamic process for bulk degradation of intracellular proteins and organelles. It plays important parts in the development, differentiation, reconstitution of organism and many disease processes. Here we show the details of autophagy induced by rare earth oxide nanocrystals in HeLa cells and took a concise research about autophagic flux.In the second part we show nano-sized peptide produces an effect on gene transfer as vector system. This artificial peptide efficiently delivered reporter genes into rat primary osteoblastic cells with low cytotoxicity and be potentially utilized in clinical applications in the field of bone tissue engineering.
