Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor is a kind of process which combines activated sludge methods with biofilm process. Add suspended carriers whose specific gravity close to water into aeration tank. Suspended carriers can free flow in the reactor relying on aeration and effect of water flow lefting (Anaerobic Bioreactors based on agitator). MBBR need not backwashing and sludge returning, moreover its water head loss is low.Suspend carriers is key of wastewater tretment, which play an important role in MBBR. The surface properties, specific surface area, porosity, stability, and hydraulic characteristics affects the biofilm attachment and growth. The research and development of suspended carrier overcome the problems to soft, semi-soft and flexible type carriers which these carriers need fixed installation, and difficult maintenance and management. Suspended carrier have characteristics of high mechanical strength, stability chemical proporties, large specific surface area and so on. Their specific gravity close to water, need not fixation. They can suspend in the water with aeration and fluidize uniformly and have very wide developing prospect. The shape of this new suspended Carriers (KP-Pearl) are spherical, their particle size are 3.4-5.5 mm (standard is 4.2 mm), specific gravity rang from 1.004 to 1.070 g/cm3 (Standard is 1.02 g/cm3). Suspend Carriers' high mechanical strength, low rate of wear and stability chemical proporties, led them to can be stored for a long time. In this paper, suspended Carriers' type, characteristics and role are introduced. And the production process, features and applications are studied. KP-Pearl get a wide range of applications in Japan because of their high-organic, the treatment effect stability and good flow patterns.Municipal wastewater biological treatment were studied by a new type of suspended carries(KP-pearl). A batch colonization stage was applied using 12% active volume of suspended carriers. The reactors were subsequently operated continuously with stepwise increments in organic loading rate until limiting conditions was reached, the hydraulic retention time were 6.13, 5.1, 4.2, 3.7 and 3.1 h. The results showed that when the influent average concentration of CODcr was 153.75 mg / L, NH4+-N was 22.09 mg / L and the effluent concentration of CODcr<100 mg/L, NH4+-N<5 mg/L. 3 months operation shows that it is suitable for municipal wastewater treatment using this new (?) nded carries, and treatment efficiency is good.
