Thermal spray technology is a surface treating technology. It plays an important role in surface engineering field. The spray materials are melted or partly melted by flame. It propelled onto the substrate of the parts by compressed gas. It can make a special surface on the substrate of average material. The special surface has the propeties, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, low-wear resistance, thermal insulation capability and oxidize resistance. It can save materials and energy resouces. The special surface is named as coating and the method is named as thermal spraying technology.The feed stock wires perfom the function of self–consuming electrodes and compressed air is propelling gas in the electric arc spray. The electric arc spray is widely used in over fields of corrosion protecty, wear resistance, repairing and preparing functional coating. In addition, the technology can make a special function surface of the pseudo-alloy.The paper cutting machinery plays an important role in the field of printing machinery. It is used by some printing industries. Paper cutting machinery includes main body and main table. The main talbe is the mian working parts and weared and corroded by atmosphere. The custom have the order that the main table must have wear resistance, corrosion resistance and beautiful out ward appearance. Now the main table is electroplated chromium(Cr). The method has high cost, long period and many processing. We must find a new processing instead of the electroplated chromium(Cr).In this paper ,we will study the electric arc spray technology, in order to find a good method to solve the question about the main table of paper cutting machine.We used the cast iron(HT150) as the example and sprayed aluminum, 1Cr18Ni9Ti and 1Cr13 coating material on the example. The example is processed, and the structure, hardness, porosity, processing and corrostion of coatings is studied.The electric arc spray processing:Cast iron example—planing—spraying sand—processing—testing The results show that the aluminum coating has lamellar structure and includes pores and oxides.The stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti and 1Cr13) coating also has lamellar structure and includes pores and oxides .But the aluminum coating is losser resulting from increased pores and oxides than the stainless steel coating .The features of electric arc sprayed coating have relation with the coating formation mechanism.The electric arc spray parameters have obvious effects on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings. When the voltage and current change, the porosity and hardness also change. For the stainless steels (1Cr18Ni9Ti and 1Cr13):The technique parameters are the arc voltage of 28V and the arc current of 200A. The coating is wonderful. The low voltage and low current mean the low power of arc. It resultes in that the coating has some porosities and low hardness. Increased voltage and current will contribute to the low porosity of the coating, but the extremely high voltage and current also have negative effects on the porosity of the coating. The poper spray parameters will affect the life-span of coating.The aluminum and stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti and 1Cr13) coatings all have excellent corrosion resistance. After processing, the coatings have strong bonding with the base materials. But aluminum coating has low hardness. It isn't used to the main table .The stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti and 1Cr13) have excellent capacity. The 1Cr13 coating has the best performace in the three materials. We study on the arc spraying 1Cr13 anti-corrosion coating on the main table of cutting machinery, instead of the electroplated chromium(Cr).When machining the example ,the result show as follow:①The thermal spraying coatings have looser resulting of pores and oxides. The performance decides that the machining system must have excellent rigidity.②If the cutting power is over the average level, It causes the coating crack.③When processing ,If cooling must good ,or else the coating will change colour or break .By studying ,We can know that the 1Cr13 coating is the best coating on the main table of paper cutting machine. The method will save excellent beneficial result.In conclusion, the 1Cr13 coating prepared with electric arc spray for protecting main table from corrosion is suitable .
