Traditional data processing usually lags behind the experimental process. There is urgent need for a modern laboratory to change from the original off-line mode, "test→data processing→adjustment→and then test again..." to online mode, the quality and efficiency of the experiment can be improved only in this way. Vinyl chloride (VC) polymerization is often under a high pressure state, and data of kinetic model is received based on a large amount of experiment, finance and materials. On the basis of the Gas Chromatography (GC)-Tracer kinetics model, an on-line measurement of VC polymerization conversion inspecting system was developed with the programmable controller (PLC) and computer platform by GC continuous measurement of reactor gas phase.In the thesis, the architecture of this inspecting system was briefly introduced, and the hardware part and software part was described in detail. During the development, the author studied the theory about peak detection, distinction and quantitative calculation, and explored the methods for processing chromatographic data signal, and realized an algorithm of derivative with curve fitting in PC, and a unique sequence of peak distinction which fixed the top of the peak in the first place , then the start and end of it. This algorithm could fix the position and types each feature point of the signal curve, and then proceed to distinguish the type of the peak, to cut them apart and to calculate their areas. A chromatography workstation was exploited based on this algorithm; this workstation could distinguish the chromatographic peak, handle the data, submit the experiment result flexibly and generate report automatically etc. And the area of tracer butane which was substituted into kinetic model equation to obtain kinetic data was received too. The industrial chromatography workstation was of well real-time and high accuracy; it laid the solid foundation for the research of kinetic of VC polymerization, and could be applied into initiator picking, experimental conditions optimization and so on.
