The poly (amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers were prepared by divergent method with ethylenediamine as core. 0.5 G PAMAM was functioned with tris(tri-hydroxymethyl)amino methane and 2-aminoethanol, hydroxyl ended PAMAM will be obtained. Then 2-chloropropionyl chloride will be reacted with it. A new type of PAMAM will be acquired, which contained Cl at the end of the molecular. The molecular structures of the product have been characterized by means of infrared spectrum (IR) and ~1H NMR. The validity of the molecular structure of the dendrimer was proved to match with the designing target molecular. The solubility of the compounds was tested. Hydroxyl ended PAMAM is prone to dissolve in polar reagent and Cl ended PAMAM is prone to dissolve in nonpolar reagent.
