In this dissertation, we narrated the synthesis and assembly of size- and shape-controllable noble metal nanostructures via simple chemical reactions to study their applications in sensors, SERS, and photoelectric conversion. The following is our main results:1. Flowerlike silver microspheres are synthesized in aqueous solution via one-step route, and employed as electrochemical sensor towards hydrogen peroxide.2. Silver nanoparticles are fabricated on the interface of water and oil phases under UV irradiation. It is found that the silver nanoparticles possess enhanced activity for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and can be further developed as SERS substrate.3. Gold network is prepared on the interface of water and oil phases by photoreduction. The electrochemical behavior of the prepared gold network nanostructure towards hydrogen peroxide reduction is also examined.4. The colorimetric detection of melamine using silver nanoparticle (3 nm in diameter) is investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy.5. Hollow cuprous oxide nanospheres are synthesized by reducing CuSO4 employing glucose as the template and reductant in ethylene glycol.
