Deep cryogenic treatment is a technique that objects are put in the given,controllable ultra-low temperature equipment to make their microstructure changed, and to improve or enhance their properties.Deep cryogenic treatment is abranch of low temperature technology,and also has great applied values. According to research and application in industrial countries, the technique can save resources and energy and improve production efficiency in the related fields (tools and dies and models etc.).However, the technique is at the beginning of research and needs speeding up on research and application sides in our country, for that, it is purposed to study the deep cryogenic treatment on mechanism and application in the paper.In the paper,YT15 cemented carbide finished tools were treated in the ultra-low temperature equipment and wear resistance of the treated and untreated tools was compared in the same metal-cutting conditions.In the end hardness of the treated and untreated tools were also tested.Based on energy and system principle, phenomena and disciplinarian that microstructure of cutting tools could be changed in the frozen conditions was expounded; according to cryogenic physics, microstructure changes of YT15 cemented carbide tools were studied by optical microscope and X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the change mechanism was analyzed by the numbers; that the key problems in deep cryogenic treatment process should be paid attention to was also analyzed;At the end we put forward a practical deep cryogenic treatment process for YT15 cemented carbide finished tools; in order to play a guiding role for future practice production.Test results is:deepc ryogenict reatment could make microstructure of the cutting tools transformed; this in turn enhanced wear resistance and increased hardness of the tools.Deep cryogenic treatment is an applied technique and has a wide applied future in materials and machining, and deserves studying on mechanism,especially in industrialization.
