Hollow porous starch (HPS) is a neotype modified starch which has the characters of innocuity and high absorbing capacity. It is a perfect material for haemostasis because the HPS has the haemostasis effect by inducing platelet aggregation, promoting thrombogenesis and activating the blood-lotting system. In this article through selecting corn starch as raw material, we explored a sequential hydrolysis method of hydrochloric acid and composite enzyme was presented for the preparation of high water-absorbing porous corn starch. Also the physical and chemical properties, hemostatic effeet and biocompatibility of the PHS were studied.1 Through selecting corn starch as raw material, we separately explored the effects of some main factors on the water-absorbing capacity of porous corn starch by a single factor experiment and an orthogonal experiment. The results showed that the acid pretreatment condition of the raw corn starch was:the concentration of hydrochloric acid 3%(w/v), the concentration of raw corn starch slurry 40%(w/v), the experimental temperature 50℃and the duration time 70min; while the optimal enzyme hydrolysis condition of the corn starch pretreated by hydrochloric acid was that the amount of composite enzyme 40%, the experimental temperature 40℃, pH 4.0 and the duration time 18h.2 The results of the physical and chemical experiment were showed as follows:the water-absorbing ratio of the porous corn starch was about 156.98%, which increased by about 20% as compared with the traditional composite enzyme hydrolysis method. The density was 1.402g/cm3, the the microorganism and had not been picked out.3 In the animal model,the hol-homostatic time of the HPS to the rabbit ear was 129±6s, to the rabbit liver trauma was 70±5s.the haemostasis effeet had the significant difference compared with the chinese traditional hematischesis material of Yunnan baiyao(P<0.01).4 The PHS did little damage to the growth and reproduction of the MRC-5 cell by cell morphous and MTT chromatometry. Planted the HPS in the mice right thigh, and the thigh tissue analyzed by HE-staining after a few days.The result intricated that the HPS degraded after 6d and had less effect on the structure and function of the thigh tissue.The mice liver and kidney showed no abnormality.
