At present, the majority of China oil fields has entered in the high water cut stage, after that the oil production decline accelerate. If continue to use conventional oil extraction equipment, the cost of sewage treatment on the ground will increase, the life of oil and water separation will be diminished and increasing the maintenance cost of oil field equipment. In view of this status quo, considering development of oil extraction equipment to oil and water separation equipment. Re-inject the recycling underground to decline water content. As the majority of down-hole oil-water separation being valued gradually by scholars, it will have a major impact on production.For the dispersed phase of oil droplets during the oil-water two-phase flow, droplets separation process is controlled by the Stokes law. In permanent flow, the droplet diameter and droplets ascending velocity was positive correlation. So the effect of oil-water separator is steady the flow and increasing the fusion efficiency and collision frequency by settlement cups. The purpose of this study is to obtain the affection of oil-water separator cup′s geometry settlements to droplets fusion and first-priority of these geometry settlements.The theoretical analysis was used to research the mechanism of the oil-water separation in this study and obtain the influence of settlement cups′dip angle, edge angle, edge numbers and water ratio to the oil-water separate effect simultaneously; In the use of dimensional analyses to resolution water ratio after separation. Theoretical analysis through laboratory experiments to certification the conclusions; The use of oil-water two-phase flow calculation software to simulation the flow of settlement cup. Through simulation results to analysis the fusion efficiency and collision frequency among droplet. By means of experiments, selection the best separating effect from the 18 kinds of oil-water separators.
