The welding technology has become one of the most important metal thermal processing technology as an important process technology in manufacturing.With the development of modem technology,It is an inevitable trend of the development of welding industry to carry out the welding process automation intelligentizing and robotization.In the production process,as the large transformer manufacturers of silicon steel scraps idle,the small manufacturers can use the scraps through clipping and working.At present,facing the increasingly prominent energy crisis and the objective requirement of constructing economical society,it must be resolved the issues of silicon steel scraps welding automation. Visual sensing methods is more and more sophisticated to be applied in automatic welding process due to the large collection of information and to avoid direct contact with the workpiece.In this paper,not only both domestic and overseas researching of seam tracking was analyzed, but also Silicon steel sheet automatic welding system, which is based on visual sensing technology,was designed and realized.The issue composed of two parts:the host PC computer system and slave system.The Host Computer System mainly using digital image processing technology for silicon steel weld tracking and detecting. In VC++ compiler environment,firstly,with the CCD Sensor acquire seam images,it takes image preprocessing which functions include image filtering,image sharpening, image segmentation, image enhancement, edge detection.Then introduces the algorithm based on Hough Transform line detection to detect anger between the straight line and the horizontal line of welding seam,and to obtain the accurate information of welding seam;The Slave System mainly fulfilling welding process,it is composed of CCD camera,image acquiring card,welding platform,stepping motor,gears device.In order to achieve the purpose of automatic welding process, it adopted ATmega8 as the microprocessor to control stepping motor of welding platform working orderly.Moreover,so as to accomplish the communication between the host PC computer system and the slave system,the issue introduced the program development of RS232 serial communication.It is acquire the weld information,eventually,through the process of acquire seam images,image preprocessing,Hough Transform.Then adopt RS232 serial communication,that makes ATmega8 fulfill welding process of silicon steel.The experimental results achieved the expected goal,which proves the design scheme is practicable.
