To realize the large size, hi-speed and low cost of precision injection molding machine, clamping unit of precision injection molding machine was designed and optimized based on ADAMS and ANSYS software. The designed and optimized structures included toggle mechanism and injection moulding board (IMB).With hybrid-driven mechanism introduced into toggle clamping mechanism, all-electric hybrid-driven clamping unit was designed with good controllability. Based on ADAMS, this mechanism was modeled. And SPLINE function was used to fit motors'input curves. Kinematics analysis and dynamic analysis were made and ideal speed curve of injection moulding board was obtained. To achieve hi-speed of precision injection molding machine, this software was utilized to optimize hybrid-driven clamping unit, with coordinates of pivot points as design variables and maximum speed of injection moulding board as objective function,and optimization results were satisfying. By means of ANSYS software, injection moulding board was optimized, including of topology optimization and design optimization. According to topology optimization, X type IMB was gained. By reasonable finite element analysis on X type IMB, the obvious superiority of results was found. To achieve the minimum volume of IMB, by optimizing key parameters, design optimization was done under constraint conditions. To meet professional requirements, the design and optimization system of IMB was developed specially, based on Visual Basic6.0 and APDL. Thus, professional and convenient tool for IMB design was provided.
