A sugar-based surfactant was synthesized in this thesis, and MWNTs were functionalized with this surfactant. Glycosylated modifications on the surface of CNTs would improve the dispersion and solubility of CNTs, having promising application in bio-functionalized materials.MWNTs were functionalized with the surfactant through noncovalent interaction. The functionalized MWNTs were characterized with UV-vis spectra, XRD patterns and HRTEM. It was found that the dispersion of MWNTs in aqueous solution had been greatly improved. We dispersed MWNTs with the surfactant in alcohol solutions. The alcohol solution can be better disperse MWNTs. We studied on the interaction between functionalized MWNTs and BSA. CD method had been used to investigate the conformation of protein indueed by the nanocomposite. It could be seen from CD spectra that theα-helical andβ-sheet content of BSA remained at least 70% after interacting with functionalized MWNTs.
