High concentration is the trend of the development of masterbatch. The higher pigment masterbatch contents, the more difficult for pigment to distribute. Therefore, the demand for the pigment is much higher. Development of new, high efficiency, fine and easy to be dispersed, non-toxic and good color stability is the future trends of pigment. The more pigment the masterbatch contents, the greater difficulty to manufactur masterbatch. The core of the development of masterbatch technology is to get compatibility between pigment, dispersant and carrier resin and increase the pigment content and coloring efficiency.Inorganic nano-materials used in polymer modification can not only play a role in reducing costs, but also can increase the toughness and strength of polymer matrix. Similarly, the inorganic nano-materials have been used in masterbatch industry.Numerous studies show that the final color properties of masterbatch plastics in will not be affected after the nano-CaCO3, BaSO4 replace part of the pigment in the dry state. This paper uses a different method of mixing, nano inorganic fillers were added in the pigment slurry, co-mixed, dryed, grinded. And then this premix pigment was used to produce masterbatch with high concentration of pigment. Color properties of polyolefin masterbatch were measured by color measurement instrument. The results show that the color properties of the final product will not be affected by using the pre-mixed pigments. With the increament of concentration of masterbatch, nano-CaCO3, nano BaSO4 can have a better effect. When the concentration of masterbatch is 50%, it works best. Two different mixing methods were compared and found that mixing in slurry form works better.
