Fuel alcohols is used widely, with depletion of fossil fuel resources and rising awareness of environmental protection, the synthesis of Higher alcohols from syngas derived from coal, natural gas and biomass attracted wide attention. In this pape, a kind of Cu-Co/SiO2-MWNTs catalyst was prepared by impregnation, characterized through a series of physico-chemical techniques, such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, H2-TPR(temperature-programmed reduction)measurements, and the performance of catalysts was evaluated with fixed bed reactor. The effect of temperature on catalysis performance of the catalysts has been studied. It was found that the conversion rates of H2 and CO increase with operation temperature, meanwhile side reactions such as methanation reaction, liquid hydrocarbons reaction have also been strengthened. The content of methanol in total alcohol reduces with the operation temperature. The results also indicate that the selectivity of C2+ alcohols can be improved, while the selectivity of the total alcohol decrease when the operation temperature increases. The effect of space velocity on the reaction performance of catalysts has been studied. It was found that conversion rates of H2 and CO decrease with space velocity, while generate more higher alcohols, the content of methanol in total alcohol was also improved. It is also found that increasing the space velocity favor methanation reaction, inhibit water gas conversion reaction. There was not obviously effect on space-time yield of liquid hydrocarbons. The effect of pressure on the reaction performance of catalysts has been studied. It was indicated that the conversion rate of H2 and CO increase with the pressure, the yield of higher alcohols and space-time yield of liquid hydrocarbons also follow the trend. There was not obviously effect on WGS reaction.
