The way of high-basicity sinter combined with acid pellets and/or lump has been recognized as reasonable burden structure for blast furnace in China. Oxide pellet proportion in blast furnace burden grows because of its good strength, uniform size, high iron grade and metallurgical properties. Quality of green ball has a great effect on quality of product. Therefore, balling is considered as an important process in pellet production. However, quality of green ball in domestic pellet production is volatile because of the quality fluctuation of iron ore concentrate and bentonite as well as instability of production process. Therefore, it is significant to keep the stability of green ball quality.Control guidance system of iron ore drying-batching-balling process was developed with Visual Studio.Net, Matlab and ADO, based on actual production of a pellet plant. The system consists of three subsystems, iron ore concentrate drying control guidance, batching control guidance and balling control guidance. The stable controls of moisture of iron ore concentrate dried, dosage of iron ore concentrate and bentonite, moisture and yield of green ball are realized.Drying temperature computational model is established, by which feedforward and feedback control guidance of pulverized coal injection and drying moisture are realized. Prediction model of pellet chemical composition is established, by which prediction of pellet chemical composition is achieved. Computational model of theoretical added amount of water is established, by which feedforward and beedback control guidance of balling added water is realized. The result of simulation test shows that performance indexes of models meet the intended requirements.Database of control guidance expert system is established based on database technology. Methods of knowledge acquisition, representation and organization are studied. Manual work, production rules and database technology are chosen for them respectively for the characteristics of process control of pellet production. The result of simulation test shows that knowledge coverage of control guidance expert system is 100%, while hit rate is 90.39%.The software has friendly interface, complete functions and convenient operation. It has powerful functions in memory, calculation, prediction and control guidance. This system not only lays a good foundation for intelligent control of oxide pellet production, but also gives a reference for development of process control system of iron ore pellet preparation.
