Songliao River Basin is one of the largest seven river basin in China,as a river basin agency, it has a lot of functions,such as river basin water resources investigation and assessment,the implementation of integrated regulation of water volume,water pollutant carrying capacity identification,flood control and drought relief and so on.As for the river basin water environmental monitoring center mainly undertakes on monitoring water quality sections of provincial and national boundaries,to support for the above-mentioned works,it has a significant impact for the decision-making on the basis of the accuracy of experimental data,the correctness and completeness of assessment method selection.The monitoring center passed measurement certification,participated in proficiency testing, with outstanding results on the aspect of random sample comparison for the standard exceeding indexs on the sample sections with the provincial environmental monitoring stations,ensuring accuracy of the data issued,so that the vital impaction for decision-making is on water quality assessment.In recent years,to evaluate the datas issued by the river basin water environmental monitoring center mainly adopt the single index method,evaluation method is singleness,evaluation results is incomprehensive too.In this regard,this paper attempts to use principal component analysis method to analyse and evaluate the assessment datas,with the aim of comparison and supplement with the original evaluation findings,and carrying on exploring other evaluation methods in order to find the most suitable one or several combinations of the water quality monitored to make a comprehensive assessment in the future,to provide a theoretical basis for each functions in the river basin.This paper selects the four consecutive years of water quality monitoring datas from 2006-2009,in total of nine provincial boundary buffer zone sections at the junction of Jilin and Heilongjiang province, Jilinin and Liaoning province in Songhua and Liao River Basin,using principal component analysis to carry out the analysis and evaluation. Evaluation findings are as follows:(1)The water quality status of the five sections at the junction of Jilin and Heilongjiang Province of Songhua River Basin in 2006-2009 can be used to represent the most information of original datas by four principal components;the four sections at the junction of Jilin and Liaoning Province of Liao River Basin can be used to represent the original 10 monitoring indexs by three principal components.(2)The index analysed by the principal component is consistent with the illustration of standard exceeding index in the water resources quality status bulletin of the provincial boundaries buffer zone issused by the same period.(3)All the sections in buffer zone of Songliao River Basin provincial boundaries is organic pollution.(4)The pollution trend of Shiqiao section in Songhua River Basin is clearly increasing,should arouse enough attention,other sections also have increased trend by the reason of pollution sources discharged into the river, which is consistent with the survey situation of pollutant discharge outlet to rivers in recent years.(5) The pollution trend of Liao River Basin from 06-09 years is reducing, but in fact the water quality classification is not much difference, indicating the pollution control of some sections in Liao River Basin still need to be strengthened.(6) The pollution of Wangben section is the most slight in the four sections of Liao River Basin.The pollution of Houyihe section is the most heavy one,because the upstream area is drinking water sources area and pollutant discharge control area,acceptting the pollutants discharged by some enterprises in the pollutant discharge control area, although some of the pollutants had been treated,but untreated ones occupied the vast majority. As a pollutant discharge control area,its discharge standards is very low, on the other side,the water amount of Tiaozi river is little,so it has none of the dilution and self-purification function to the Houyihe section.The change of water quality from Wangben section to Fudedian section is unobvious.There are two development and utilization areas on the upstream of Zhaosutaihe,one is drinking water source area,the other is agricultural water utilization area,furthermore,there are pollutant dicharge inputs from the wastewater treatment plant in Lishu County, so that the pollution situation of Liangjiazi section is very serious.
