The reference sources in designing industrial wastewater treatment unit and system include experimental and operational data of existing projects. The range of the typical design parameters in designing municipal wastewater treatment unit has corresponding provisions in the design guidelines and specifications. However, it is difficult for industrial wastewater treatment unit, as it involves various industries, processes, materials and products. Although there are some proven methods for specific pollutants, the choice of design parameters has no reliable reference when the conventional technology is applied to treat industrial wastewater.So far, as the selection process has not yet formed a complete set of evaluation methods, designers compare process scenario, and further determine the design parameters for process units depending on the budgets as well as their thumbnail experience, which results in arbitrary and leads to the design of industrial wastewater treatment technology in larger freedom. In practice, the main parameter value in designing industrial wastewater treatment process depends on the design specifications approved by the state. However, these design specifications are set for a long time and waste water quality has changed dramatically with the improvement of production technology. Therefore it is difficult for the designer to design the industrial wastewater treatment because there are great differences in the process. On the other hand, as China's rapid economic development and environmental protection heavy task, designers currently rushed in their drawings without enough time either to obtain the basic data case by case, or to carry out experimental research on the water quality and the process. It frequently bring about that the water quality of the projects could not meet emissions standards.In this paper, the author mines a lot of data from the previous cases. It summarized the range of design parameters, removal rate, and the interactions between design parameters. The findings in this work may be helpful for designers to determine the parameters of process units.
