The existing problems of steam overlay, channeling and viscous fingering lead to nonuniformity of vertical profile, high residual oil saturation, the poor sweep efficiency of steam driving, low development effect and poor recovery efficiency in the steam flooding technology. Therefore, the study of mobility ratio in steam flooding process has important theoretical significance and application value to improve the sweep efficiency. In this paper, a chemical additive was studied. It can improve the mobility ratio of oil-water in two phase flow and the steam sweeping efficiency by reducing the penetration coefficient of aqueous phase or vapor phase and to enhance the recovery factor of the steam drive. Melamine can meet the requirements that presented in the article by selecting chemical agent of mobility control. The author took the advantage of current petroleum reservoir engineering theory, instruments and physical analog method, studied a lot about its solubility and the effect of flooding. The results show that the solubility of melamine increases rapidly followed the temperature going up; when pH value was 7.5, the solubility of melamine is the lowest; ions in reservoir might weak the solubility of melamine. The melamine has good crystallization capacity and reversibility in the core. It can reduce the permeability of the core in this experiment. The factor of the permeability of reduction decreased with an increase in injection temperature and injection volume. The melamine may further increase steam flooding efficiency by about 8%, and hot water flooding efficiency by about 9%. The displacement experiment with parallel sand pack simulate heterogeneous reservoir. The results show compared with not adding melamine, the average increment of steam flooding efficiency is 10%.
