In this paper, we obtain a high nuclear sperical polyoxotungstate based on tungstate via water solution synthesis methods. The study on synthetic rule and condition for the new comound is discussed. We also investigate the relation between structure and proerties of the comound. On the basis of routine methods, the novel polyoxotungstate has been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, UV, TG, IR, Raman and single crystal X-ray diffractions.A new spherical polyoxotungstate is formed via routine methods with the tungstate raw material: K8Na28[{(WVI)WVI5(SO3)(H2O)3O21}12{VⅣO(H2O)}30]·~90H2O (1)Compound 1 is the the second example of giant polyoxotungstates constructed from the desirable pentagonal{(W)W5} moieties. This cluster has high degree of polymerization and nanoscale,as well as striking the topological characterisitics. The isolation of compound 1 further confirms that the {(W)W5} pentagon can be generated and stabilized in the dynamic library of tungstates. Meanwhile, it opens a new world for the future study of nanocapsules based on {(W)W5}. The preparation of new giant polyoxotungstate wheels, capsules or cages will provide new type of molecular materials for the catalysis, bio- and nanotechnology, medicine, and materials science.
