| The semi-solid slurry preparation, a focus of research in the semi-solid processing is the strategic link between emi-solid metal processing and material properties. Microstructure control is thercfore essential for any processing activity. The most important processing route for metals and alloys is solidification. Solidification technology of the high quality casting based on morden science and technology is becoming the development direction of materials processing. Semi-solid metal processing, which demands nondendritic microstructure, its process characterization is determined by the microstructure of material. SSM is one of the most important processing technologies in 21st century due to its advantages, such as near net-shape forming, high quality and performance of products and energy-saving.An innovational technique for SSP is studied in this thesis, and this technique applies Self-inoculation Method (SIM) to alloy ZL101,alloy ZA27 and alloy QA10-3. The thesis studies the effects of pouring process on casting and as-cast of the three alloys by Self-inoculation Method and the effects of alloys' casting and as-cast on different temperatures.The result shows that the as-cast microstructure of ingot casting is preferred when alloy ZL101 is poured by Self-inoculation Method at 710℃.If the casting temperature of alloy ZL101 is above 710℃,the particle and grain will be coarse; on the contrast, if the temperature is below 710℃, the experiment will be difficult to carry out. So, the smaller particles and grains of self-inoculators is the finer the grain of as-cast alloy ZL101 is. And it also shows that the as-cast microstructure of ingot casting is satisfying when alloy ZA27 is poured by Self-inoculation Method at 530℃.If the casting temperature of alloy ZA27 is above 530℃,the microstructure will be coarse; on the contrast, if the temperature is below 530℃,the experiment will be difficult to carry out. So, the smaller particles and grains of self-inoculators is,the finer the grain of as-cast alloy ZA27 is. Meanwhile, it shows that the as-cast microstructure of ingot casting is suitable, when alloy QA10-3 is poured by Self-inoculation Method at 1100℃.If the casting temperature is above 1100℃,the microstructure will be coarse; on the contrast, if the temperature is below 1100℃,the experiment will be difficult to carry out. So, the smaller particles and grains of self-inoculators is the finer the grain of as-cast alloy QA10-3 is. The fine and small globular structure is conducive to the flow of slurry and the forming of complex model. Therefore, because this technology is easy to master and inexpensive,this technology will get a great potential of industrial application because of its simplicity and low cost. |
