Room ionic liquids are green solvents and catalysts which was researched extensively in the 1990s. As one of the green chemistry research directions and a new kind of catalytic system, The ionic liquid unified the outstanding performance of homogeneous catalyst and heterogenous catalyst, it is the brightest outlook reaction medium and the very ideal catalytic system in green chemistry. In the traditional phase transfer catalytic reaction, Phase transfer catalyst can significantly enhance the reactivity, it is becoming more widely used in various chemical reactions. In recent years, Ionic liquid was more and more widely used in heterogeneous transfer catalytic organic synthesis reactions. This paper mainly investigated that the Claisen-Schmidt and Knoevenagel condensation reactions of ferrocenyl compounds using the heterogeneous system sodium hydroxide/ionic liquid in some solvents.1.Nine different ionic liquids were synthesized to investigate the Claisen-Schmidt condesation of acetylferrocene and benzaldehyde using sodium hydroxide in the ionic liquids. The experimental results showed that the ionic liquids nBu4NPF6 as phase transfer catalyst is obviously better than other ionic liquids on catalyzing this reaction.2. We choosed ionic liquid nBu4NPF6 and the corresponding conditions and catalyzed the Claisen-Schmidt condensation of a series aromatic aldehyde. The experimental results showed that electronic and steric properties all have an certain influence on the reaction. All compounds have been characterized by IR,1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.3.We used ionic liquid nBu4NPF6 on catalyzing Knoevenagel condensation of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde and diethyl malonate. The experimental results showed that the ratio between the reactants, the ratio between the reactant and base, the ratio between the reactant and ionic liquid, reaction temperature and the type of solvent all have a certain influnce on the reaction. In summary, Ionic liquid nBu4NPF6 have some advantage for the two condensation reactions, such as simple operation, mild reaction conditions, high yields, etc. consistenting with current green chemistry requirements for organic synthesis.
