Aliphatic polycarbonate synthesised by CO2 and epoxide is a kind of non-toxic polymer. It has certain mechanical performance and biodegradation performance. It can help to reducing CO2 emission, recycling CO2 and protecting ecological environment. But glass transition temperature (Tg) of poly (propylene oxide carbonate) (PPC), which synthsised by CO2 and propylene oxide (PO), is lower. The polymer is so soft that its processability is affected. The degradation rate of PPC is also slow.In this paper, the work focused on how to enhance the functionality of PPC. The thermal properties, mechanical properties and procress properties of PPC were enhanced by blending with PETG, polylactic acid (PLA), Poly (hydroxy butyrate-co-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBv), silicone rubber (TYPE), Polystyrene(PS), TPU respectively. Based on the experimental results, the relation bewteen polymer microscopic structure and the macroscopic performance has discussed by molecular simulation. The main research resultes have been summarized as follows:Biodegradable composites of poly (propylene carbonate) (PPC) blended with PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE were prepared in an internal mixer. After blending withPETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE, the blowing film processability, thermal stability and mechanical properties of PPC were improved largely. PPC/PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE films were prepared in the tubular film blowing process successfully. DSC data showed that there was some degree of miscibility between PPC and PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE. SEM showed good dispersion of PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE particles into PPC matrix at lower contents. Improved mechanical properties and thermal stability of PPC/PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE blends were attributed to stronger interfacial interaction of PPC. These results indicate that blending PPC with PETG,PS,PLA,PHBv,TPU,TYPE is an efficient and convenient method to improve the properties of PPC, and the film of composites can be used as a common biodegradable material for a wide application.
