This thesis consists of two parts. We studied the synthesis of levetiracetam in the first section. Levetiracetam is known to be useful as an agent for the treatment or prevention of epilepsy and other neurological disorders. In the second section we studied the synthesis of bosentan. Bosentan is found to be a potential inhibitor of endothelin receptors and considered to represent a new approach to the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. We briefly discussed pharmacology and significance of both levetiracetam and bosentan in the paper. The routes of the synthesis of levetiracetam and bosentan were compared in a great deal of literature. After thinking about the economic benefit, the feasibility in production and the environment problems, suitable industrial synthetic routes of the both compounds were choosed.Basic on the synthesis of levetiracetam and bosentan, we studied particularly two parts to simplify the production process and exploit a suitable industrial technology, which were included as follows:1. Optimization of the reaction considerations. By means of a great deal of experiments, we optimized the conditions including the ratio of raw materials, method of materials'adding, solvents, reaction temperature, reaction time, catalyst selection, etc.2. Optimization of the aftertreatment of reactions. Specifically, include the following:the separation and purification of products, solvent recycling and post-processing, etc.
