Due to its high specific surface area and high aspect ratio characteristics, titania nanotube array has been widely used in solar cells, photocatalysis, sensors, micro-electronics, bio-medicine, etc., and it also has great potentials for development.Anodic oxidation process is simple to operate with relatively low cost. It can produce high quality regular nanotube array. In this paper, the fabrication of titania nanotube array was studied in different electrolyte systems and for different durations of reaction time. Then, the study focused on the applications of titania nanotube array in biomedical field and dye-sensitized solar cells.In the biomedical field, the nanoscale modification of titanium surface for the BMSCs adhesion, differentiation, growth and other biological characteristics was studied. Experimental results showed that nanoscale modified surface will significantly improve the biocompatibility of titanium. In the research of dye-sensitized solar cells, this paper studied the preparation of titania nanotube array on titanium and FTO conductive glass substrates separately. Then front-side and back-side illuminated dye-sensitized solar cells were assembled, and the photoelectric coversion efficiency of both structures were tested.
