In recent years, with the popularity of wasterwater treatment plants (WWTPs), people are becoming increasingly conerned about issues of the odors from WWTPs. Odors not only bring discomfort sense of smell, long-term living in a polluted environment can also cause some functional diseases, such as loss of appetite, insomnia, memory fall. With the Tianjin economic development, rapid developments were taken place around Ji Zhuangzi WWTP. A number of high-class housing estates and schools which are sensitive point sources were built there. Therefore, it is necessary to build deodorant facilities in Ji Zhuangzi WWTP to meet the ozone emission standards.Based on the studies of domestic and abroad researchs and engineering examples, this paper introduces the treatment principles, the treatment effects, the advantages and disadvantages of physical, chemical, biological techniques on deodorization. With the actual situation of Ji Zhuangzi WWTP, the difficulties in the design of deodorizing structure are the three primary sedimentation tanks. When consider with the servo-type closed structure, and prestressed dome structure and the steel truss structure, the steel truss structure is finally determined. This structure will not affect the normal operation of mud scraper in the tank, but also no need to increase the load on the existing pool wall. Moreover, counter-hanging glass fiber avoids excessive corrosion of steels in acidic gases to prolong its life span.Construction works mainly include: biological deodorization filter facilities, suction pipes and fans, tank capping. The overall estimated investment of 59.63 million yuan. Capping for the large-span primary settling tank 7.33 million yuan among the estimated investment.
