The quality of heat-insulating material performance measurement system has an effect on material optimization and screening method during quality of the material during production. This paper gives detailed introduction on performance assessment standards of heat-insulating material:calculation and assessment of adiabatic index, line ablation rate and quality ablation rate.Based on these standards, heat-insulating material performance measurement system, which has been successfully applied to heat-insulating material ablation experiment, is developed.Major research works are as follows:Ablative mechanism of heat-insulating material is analyzed and thermal properties are introduced, including specific heat capacity, heat expansion and heat transmission of the material,in addition, an ablative model is created after observation on appearance of the specimen from ablative thermal-insulating layer and microscopic analysis through a scanning electron microscope,providing the rationale for the development of measurement system.The heat-insulating material performance measurement system is developed based on assessment standards of the experiment. The system mainly includes a rotation ablation gun structure, a flame heat flow density measurement system, a PLC pulse controlling step motor for realizing open-loop control, an operation panel and its cabinet, a water cooling system, an specimen back temperature measurement as well as software for upper computer.Due to application of PLC programming and the non-explosive solenoid valve, flame size control of oxygen and acetylene passage is realized, which testifies that the system is of reasonable design, energy-saving, low emission and cost-saving compared to the ablative equipment used currently.This system is applied to heat-insulating material ablation experiment and the results indicate that the system is of simple structure,moderate cost and working hours-saving and improves working efficiency, having a bright prospect for development.
