The UV curable waterborne coating has both the advantages of waterborne coating and UV curable coating, such as environmental, fast curable speed, saving energy sources, excellent performance of film, etc. It has been an important direction of coating. At present, people pay more attention on the polyurethane-acrylate (PUA) coating which has the best performance.Polyurethane-acrylate (PUA) aggregates the excellent properties of polyurethane (PU) and polyacrylate, is well applied in the manufacture of coating and printing which needs UV curing technology. PUA plays an important role in the industry of woods, special paper, printing polish, surface treatment of plastic and electronic products. Recently ,PUA become one of the research hotspots about UV curable materials in China, while it has been commercial abroad. In this thesis, we first synthesized the polyurethane prepolymer containing hydrophilic group–COOH, using isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) ,polyether glycol or polyester glycol, as well as dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA). Then we prepared the polyurethane-acrylate prepolymer endding with double linkage through the reaction of the prepolymer with ethylene glycol methacrylate (HEMA). The effects of many factors such as reaction temperature, content of catalyst, proportion of monomer on syntheses and properties of WPUA coatings were studied. To improve the properties of the PUA, we used the material of organosilicon endding with–OH to modify it, and studied the effects of the content of organosilicon on the water resistance, hardness and adhension of the cured film. According to this, trimethylolpropane (TMP) were added to further improve the properties of the cured film. The effects of the content of TMP on the water resistance, hardness and adhension of the cured film were also studied.
