The level of control technology is closely related to the quality of continuous casting slab in the process of continuous caster. To apply the network technology and artificial intelligence theory to the continuous casting machine control will undoubtedly accelerate the modernization pace of the metallurgical industry; improve the comprehensive competitiveness and economic efficiency for a metallurgical enterprise. This paper focuses on some key technologies problems of current continuous casting process control, following important innovative research work have been done:(1) This article discusses the matrix and control strategy of steel casting system which possesses the characteristic of great inertia, time-varying and nonlinear. Aiming at getting the minimum deviation of liquid level, the control strategy uses the Genetic Algorithm to off-line optimize the parameters (cij,bj) of the Gaussian membership function and the Network structure of fuzzy controller which affect the overall system. Then, BP algorithm is used to online regulate and optimize the weight parameters of the control output which affect the system partly. The results of simulation show that the application of GA-FNC methods significantly enhances the ability of self-learning and robustness of the system.Subsequently, it also presents the design of an Expert Fuzzy Control System (EFC) with correction and compensation function. The EFC uses fuzzy logic, the existing experience and heuristic rules of solving the problems to construct the control strategy which near the crystallizer liquid level control operator's mind, so, it is worth in-depth studies in engineering applications.(2) A heat transfer mathematical model about slab caster adaptive to the real-time control requirements is established. The determination of some condition and physical property parameters of the model is discussed too.Then, the equation is solved with finite difference method. After analyzing and simulating temperature distribution, it uses an improved particle swarm optimization (MPSO) to optimize the object function of secondary cooling water which based on metallurgical norm. (3) The communication interface among the industrial Ethernet network, S7-300PLC and other third-party field bus instrument are set up through the research and development of the industrial Ethernet protocol. And this makes it possible to design a long-range, stable performance EIC control system for sequential casting under strong interference conditions. The monitoring interface of the system was configured by the software WinCC6.0, which realize the function of dynamic monitoring industrial data, archiving history data, alarming for the abnormal and so on.(4) In order to research and design the self-Ethernet products whose price is not high but functions are the same as foreign ones, this paper proposes a control system plan for continuous casting machine based on the network controller AX88796B and single-chip MAX7651 and ADuC812, which emphasizes the industrial Ethernet interface hardware design.
