Abstract:Objective:Amomum villosum, which is a commonly used chinese medical materials, has a long medical history. The dried ripe fruit of Amomum villosum Lour.,Amomum villosum Lour.var. xanthioides T. L. Wu et Senjen or Amomum longiligulare T. L. Wu. It is pungent in taste and warm in nature, acts on the Spleen, Stomach and Kidney Meridians and has the effects of resolving dampness to improve appetite, warming the Spleen to stop diarrhea, and regulating the activities of qi to prevent abortion. Indications:accumulation of dampness in the middle-jiao, deficiency of the Spleen-yang, vomiting and diarrhea abortion. Modern research shows that Bornyl acetate is the main material basis of the drug effects.Bornyl acetate is the highest content of the Amomum Villosum Volatile Oil,and its stucture,character and quality is stable. If we use Amomum Villosum Volatile Oil directly, it is difficult to control the dosage and storage. If we make the Amomum Villosum Volatile Oil into droping pills, we will solve these problems, and the droping pills have many other advantages such as quick-acting and high-bioavailability. To optimize the preparing process technology of Amomum Villosum volatile oil droping pills, we mainly consider the content of the Bornyl acetate in the droping pills, and next in importance we consider the weight difference, dissolution time as well as exterior. Throuth these study on Amomum Villosum volatile oil droping pills, we give the theory to the further use of Amomum Villosum. METHODS:L9(34)orthogonal test was applied to select the optimum extraction parameters including percentage of the base, internal diameter of dropper, proportion of base to volatile oil, and cooling temperature.The optimal process technology was confirmed by the content of bornyl acetate which was determined by GC, weight difference, dissolution time and exterior of Amomum villosum volatile oil dropping pills.RESULTS:The optimized process was as follows:the ratio of PEG4000 and PEG6000 was 1:1,internal diameter of dropper was 2.0 mm, proportion of base to volatile oil was 2:1 and cooling temperature was 0~5℃.CONCLUSION: Amomum villosum volatile oil droping pills which were produced by the optimal process technology were rich in bornyl acetate(165.946 mg·g-1),and their weight difference, dissolution time as well as exterior met the requirements of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005 Edition).
