The polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin has a lot of excellent performance, flame-retardant, corrosion resistance, insulation, wear-resistant etc. It is inexpensive and widely used in pipes, bars, film, insulation materials, anti-corrosion materials, construction materials, etc. but the impact resistance is low, the thermal stability and the processing performance is poor, so we have to modify it to improve its performance. As inorganic materials with different morphology were used to modify PVC, they have different effect on the properties of PVC composites. In this paper, we use one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers, two-dimensional talcum powder, three-dimensional heavy CaCO3 and zero-dimensional nano-CaCO3 to complex modify the PVC and study the changes of its properties. This article includes the following aspects:a) We use the titanate coupling agent and aluminum coupling agent to modify the surface of one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers and zero-dimensional nano-CaCO3. respectively. Then mixed PVC with the modified inorganic material for the single modification, analysis the mechanical properties, select the better coupling to study the complex modification. The results showed that the mechanical properties of PVC modified by titanate-treated CaSO4 whiskers and nano-CaCO3 is the best.b) We modified PVC by the mixture of different forms of inorganic materials in the equal ratio, analysis the mechanical and rheologic properties of PVC composites, the results showed that the impact strength of PVC modified by one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers and zero-dimensional nano-CaCO3 reached 66kJ/m2, the comprehensive properties of PVC modified by the one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers, two-dimensional talcum powder and three-dimensional heavy CaCO3 is the best,.c) In the case that the total content of inorganic materials is 10, adjusted the proportion of one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers two-dimensional talcum powder, three-dimensional heavy CaCO3 and zero-dimensional nano-CaCO3, studied the properties of PVC composite materials. The results showed that the properties of PVC modified by the one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers and two-dimensional talcum powder in the proportion of 1:1 is better, the impact strength reached 24.5kJ/m2; When PVC is modified by one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers and three-dimensional heavy CaCO3 in the proportion of 2:1, the impact strength is 50.8 kJ/m2; When PVC is modified by one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers and zero-dimensional nanoCaCO3 in the proportion of 1:2, the impact strength is 83.3kJ/m2; the comprehensive properties of PVC modified by the one-dimensional CaSO4 whiskers, three-dimensional heavy CaCO3,two-dimensional talcum powder in the proportion of 4:2:1 reached the best, the impact strength reached 35.8kJ/m2.
