The vermicular iron is widely applied for many industrial sectors as the performance and the microstructure between the nodular cast iron and the gray iron. Especially it has been used successfully on Cylinder Block of Automobile Engine in recently, it is asked much higher on its quality and output.then the vermicular graphite rate is the main parameter in the quality of the vermicular iron, it impacts the good or bad,it can measured quickly,accurately furnace-based and adjustment Promptly as so to get the fine the vermicular iron.At present, the vermicular graphite rate is detected by Metallographic Analysis, the method is direct-viewing, iaccurate, simple, but it needs long time and the operator technology skillfull.So it need to explor an advanced method according to much researh. it found the functional relations between the vermicular graphite rate and UCT sound speed in certain temperature.With rapid development of computer and automatic technology, the automatic ultrasonic technologies are widely being applied in various industry domains.the paper mainly introduces relationship between the ultrasonic velocity and vermicularity and TIRP inspecting UCT sound speed, then an automatic ultrasonic inspection system design.In order to achive inspection and adjustment automation,which is based on BLC-2000 ultrasonic flaw detector, using" MCU+CPLD" that controls high speed data gathering system composition by AD9224, we made a BLC-2000 ultrasonic flaw detector that can inspect quickly, real-time, tranferly vermicular iron samples, the system realizes real-time, correct measurement UCT sound speed in the vermicular iron, then calculates the vermicular graphite rate. According to the test result, the system can automacally compare the testing vermicular graphite rate with the requirments and analysizes the quantity of the additives for vermicular graphite treatment compliented.By MCU controlling step-by-steps, it changes the the?rate by using feed silk method to the original iron liquid.The overall system control and communication by MFC designs the operation contact surface and the mscomm serial port communication in the VC6.0, the result of the system is nearly to Metallographic Analysis. The system achives the automatic examination and adjustment of the vermicular graphite rate and keep a fine precision. It does not needed any skillfull operators and only require that they can design parameters for vermicular graphite rate. The inspection time is less 1s。This system greatly reduces the diffculty at controling the vermicular graphite rate, inspection and examination time online and will have the rather important application in practice...
