In recent years, railway speed on the increasingly high performance requirements of rail, which has put a higher production requirements for heavy rail in China. Heavy Rail Heat Treatment and Mechanical Properties of heavy rail can provide the theoretical basis and practical guidance. This paper takes the 60kg/m U71Mn heavy rail as the research object, combining with the actual production of heavy rail, carried on the research of heavy rail heat treatment and the relationship between microstructure and properties, with emphasis on the research of the heavy rail white line layer of heat treatment defects.Heavy rail steel by heating experiments, analyze results, draw a heavy rail steel heat treatment temperature range. At the same time, through on-site cooling experiment, analysis of different heating time and cooling time on the microstructure and properties, developed a heat treatment of heavy rail the best heating and cooling time.Heat treatment of heavy rail defect analysis of samples to identify the white line layer for the cause.Using jet air cooling experiment, study significance of the spray cooling to improve the quality of heavy rail, heavy rail for the development of optimum quenching provide a powerful frame of reference. The results showed that: U71Mn heavy rail steel is in the best quenching temperature between 870℃~ 930℃;The best heating time of heavy rail-side quenching is between 40s ~ 45s in the premise of using spray cooling; The main cause of white line layer defects is due to prolonged heating time and excessive cooling speed; Compared with spray cooling, jet air cooling was able to guarantee the quality stability of heavy rail better.
