Nowadays, considerable effort has been devoted to the syntheses and characterizations of metal–organic frameworks composed of transition metal ions and bridging organic ligands because of their potential applications in catalysis, electrics, magnetism and optics, as well as their fascinating framework structures. Numerous reports of a myriad of supramolecular assemblies utilizing different types of organic ligands possessing varied functionalities like carboxylates, aza-donor groups etc. (5-Ethyl-2-(4- isopropyl-4-methyl-5-oxo-2-imidazolin-2-yl) nicotinic acid) (Imaz) was ?rst synthesized as a selective herbicide in 1892 by American Cyanamid Company. It contains a pyridine carboxylic acid and an imidazole ring, which can be used as a functional ligand. It has been reported that only two complexes have been synthesized by Imazethapyr, they are [Cu2(Imaz)2(H2O)2Cl2] and [Cd(Imaz)2]. So Imaz's coordination chemistry to metal ions remains largely unexplored though it is a chiral compound which can be used as a powerful building block to construct numerous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs).Ten coordination compounds have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis, IR spectra, fluorescence spectroscopy, thermal analysis. And complexes are rich in hydrogen bonds, by hydrogen bonds, complex eventually connect to become a one-dimensional, two-dimensional or three-dimensional supramolecular structure. They are listed as follows: [Co(C15H17N3O3)2(H2O)2]·4H2O(1),[Ni(C15H18N3O3)2]·4H2O(2),[Co(C15 H-(17)N3O3)3]·H2O(3),{[Cu(C15H18N3O3)(C9H8N1O4)(H2O)]·2H2O}(4),[Mn(C15H18 N3O3)2(C13H12F2N6O1)2](5),{[Cu(C14H18N3O1)(C5H4N2O2)(H2O)]·1.3H2O}(6),[Zn2(C15H18N3O3)2(C6H4NO2)(H2O)2](7),[Cd2(C15H18N3O3)2(C6H4NO2)(H2O)2] (8),{[Mn(C15H18N3O3)2]·2H2O}n(9),{[Cd(C15H18N3O3)2]·2.67H2O}n (10).
