Vinyl acetate is one of most important organic raw materials. It has a strong aggregation ability to form polymers with its own or other monomers. The polymers are widely used in textile, construction, machinery and other fields. Synthesis vinyl acetate from DME is a process with coal as raw material, which meets China's energy development strategy. The study of this project may address the overcapacity and insufficient capacity utilization of DME. In addition, it will improve the level of domestic production of vinyl acetate. Results show that the optimized catalytic system conditions for a maximum convertion of DME and selectivity of EDA are as follows:use RhI3 as the main catalyst, methyl iodide, potassium acetate as the cocatalysts, and acetic acid as the solvent. Experiments are conducted in an autoclave of 0.2 L. A good result has been attained:the solvent acetic acid 12g, RhI3 0.10g, methyl iodide 1.80g, potassium acetate 0.50g, CO/H2 mole ratio of 1/1, reaction temperature at 180℃, and reaction time of 5h. In this condition, the conversion rate of dimethyl ether is 75.25%, and the selectivity of EDA is 64.45%. According to experimental phenomenon and documents, we have proposed a reaction mechanism and summarized the kinetic model: r=k·C(CH3COOK)·C(H2)·[C(CH3I)·C (CO)]2...
