The main pollution sources of Dianchi come from municipal sewage in the rivers which inflood into DianChi. "If we want to govern Dianchi, we firstly govern the rivers which inflood into DianChi", it has become a consensus in governing Dianchi polution in Kunming. It is known that the biological treatment capacity is limited, the way is single and too expensive. However, we always relied on biological treatment and played down the chemically enhanced treatment for a long time during the sewage treatment. In this paper, the author analyzed and compared domestic and foreign treatment processes, and the development trend of sewage treatment on the basis of a large number of literature. The overview, reasons and distribution rules of main pollution materials were summarized. The necessity, feasibility of the chemically enhanced primary treatment method and biological (CEPT+A/O) to purify the sewage of main rivers which inflood into Dianchi were discussed according to the experimental results.The notable feature of CEPT+A/O purification method is adding a certain amount of the chemical coagulant in the process. Compared with the simple biological treatment method, experimental results have proved that the method has some notable features, such as the less aeration time, less dosage, better techno-economic performance, better activated sludge sedimentation performance, short sludge age and better removing phosphorus, and so on. The experimental results have proved this method is suitable to the sewage treatment of the main rivers which inflood into Dianchi. Compared with the simple biological treatment method, the COD removal rate is raised from 44% to 62%, the total phosphorus removal rate from 63% to 89%, the total nitrogen removal Rate from 60% to 98% in sewage by using CEPT+A/O purification method. The results showed this method has a clear strengthening role in removing the SS and COD in the most sewage.
