After modified kaolin filled in SBR,the mechanical properties of SBR/kao-lin composites were improved,processing cost and environmental polluton were reduced.Meanwhile.The great significance of studying kaolin/SBR composites for exploiting application of non-metal minerals in rubber tire.The regent compound ot surface modification of kaolin was studied in this paper.The surface modification kaolin was filled in SBR and prepared kaolin/SBR composites.Taking modern analytical methods of fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and thermogravimetry analysis and differential scaning clarameutry(TG-DSC) to test mechanical pro-perties,vibration of functional group,microstructure and phase transition process of composites materials.The surface modification agent system and process con-ictions to distributed kaolin were researched and the interaction impact were c-aused by vulcanized formulation,filler and rubber.1.The kaolin was surface modification respectively by①,②,③and④,Taking the activation index as the pre-evaluation results and the mechanical prop-erties of composite mat-erials for the final evaluation.Determine the first two as main modification agentia and the last two as auxiliary modification agentia.Through pre-evalution test result of modification kaolin,The mechanical properties of different modification kaolin/SBR composites,the results show that the activation index of kaolin modified by titanate and other coupling agent was lower.filling it,the mechanical properties of kaolin/SBR composite material was poor.The effect of kaolin based silane as main modifier just the opposite.2.Through singal-facter of kaolin surface modification test and the amount of surface modifier and process conditions were ultimately determined. Such as the amount of⑤was 1.5%,the main modifier silane,diluent engine oil and assistance modifier stearic acid were 2% equally.The modification temperatur-e was 80℃and the modification time was 20min.3.Through curing single factor experiment,the curing temperature 150℃,curing time 8min and filling volume 80phr were determined.Maoming,Beihai and Tibet three fine grade modified kaolin were filled.The physical and mechanical performance of kaolin/SBR composite materials were prepared to meet the national standard tire(GB/T2981-2001).4.The composite materials were reinforced by three different fillers and the better result of reinforcing was modified kaolin,unmodified kaolin and white carbon black repectivelly by order.The thermal barrier properties of kaolin or white carbon black,aging test can not fully explain which one is better.5.The FT-IR of modified kaolin spectra have alkil absorption peak than unmodified kaolin,inicating that modifier occur coupling effect with the kaolin. The anti-aging properties of the kaolin/SBR composities is superior to gum.The result of SEM show that modified kaolin has better dispresion in SBR than unmodified kaolin.6.TG-DSC analysis show that on the condition of the same weightlessness, compared with silica/SBR composites and qun stock,the weightless temperature of modified kaolin/SBR composites was significantly increased.At the same decomposition temperature,the weightlessness of modified kaolin/SBR composites was significantly reduced.The composites filled filler have significant wide temperature range.Significant weightlessness temperature and sable weightlessness temperature shift to higher temperature. With the peak of decomposition reaction rate decreased,modified kaolin filled composite material has higher thermal stability.7.Chemical reaction was taken place both kaolinite-OH and coupling agent,so as to achieve the purpose of kaolin powder surface modification.Filler reinforce mechanism of SBR was divided into two stages.First,minerals were infiltrated by rubber matrix and complete interfaces were taken shape.Second,coupling agent become molecular "bridge"role between the inorganic mineral fillers and rubber matrix.
