AZ31 and ZK60 alloy is more commonly used in wrought magnesium alloys, the purpose of research is to design the composition of sheet material by alloying and Pandat Software on the basis of the two alloys.The new phase what Si, Sb can react with Mg form can replaceβ-Mg17Al12 phase with low thermal stability in the AZ31 alloy,which can improve the mechani-cal properties.High content of Zn about ZK60 easily lead to poor heat resistance, severe hot tearing tendency, low plastic,so this article is the main way to reduce the impact of Zn by adding rare earth Gd,Y.In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of modified ZK60 and modified AZ31 were investigated by means of metallurgical phase analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis,energy diffraction(EDS) analysis,room temperature tensile, hardness testing, plastic deformation,etc.The research results of modified AZ31 showed that the addition of Si has the effect of gra-in refinement on AZ31 alloy, however,it is easy to generate Mg2Si phase with Chinese characte-rs when Si react with Mg, reducing the alloy mechanical properties. However,Sb can improve the Mg2Si morphology and refine grain,it will help alloy properties. When alloy is AZ31-0.5Si-1.0Sb,the alloys have the best comprehensive meshanical properties,correspondingly the tens-ile strength and elogation is 185.3MPa and 8.4%respectively.After homogenization (390℃×14 h), it could effectively reduce segregation,improve composition uniformity and soften the alloy. The total deformation reaches 73.0%,the tensile strength is 273.5MPa, whicht is much higher than cast,after annealing,the tensile strength decreased and elongation increased.The research results of modified ZK60 showed that the addition of Gd and Y in the ZK60 magnesium alloy,the microstructure of cast alloy could berefined, and mechanical properties was increased at room temperature. When alloy is ZK60-1.8Gd-0.4Y,it have the best compreh-ensive meshanical properties,correspondingly the tensile strength and elogation is 221.2MPa and 7.4%respectively. Homogenization (400℃×3h+470℃×18h)could effectively reduce the second phases,eliminate segregation and improve the alloy's plastic. The uniform state ZK60, ZK60-1.8Gd and ZK60-1.8Gd-0.4Y were carried out plastic deformation with the same temp- erature,the results dicated the mechanical properties of ZK60-1.8Gd-0.4Y alloy is better than the other two materials.After T5(200℃×30h), the tensile strength was increased to 316.4 MPa, but elongation rate fell.
