2,2-Bis (6-phenyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propane has benzene dubstituents. It is a new type of polymer monomer, mainly used in preparation of new polycarbonate, epoxy resin, polyester polymers or as monomer modified to original compounds. The present paper studied on the synthesis of 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane with o-phenyl phenol and acetone as crude material by using hydrochloric acid or Sulfuric acid or P-toluene sulfonic acid as main catalyst and thiohydracrylic acid or 2,2-dimethylthiazolidine or mercaptoacetic as promoter catalyst.Explored in the different catalysts conditions, the effects of ratio of raw materials, catalyst dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time, solvent, charging sequences and so on. The process conditions of synthesizing are studied and the optimumsynthetic conditions were as follows: n (o-phenyl phenol): n (acetone): n (hydrochloric acid): n (thiohydracrylic acid)=8:2:4:1, reaction temperature is 60℃and reaction time is 24h, and the yield of bisOPP-A is 78%. The product was characterized by IR spectra, NMR spectra, and the purity of product is 99.59% whichwas determined by HPLC.The present paper has studied the synthesis of other compounds using the process by using hydrochloric acid as main catalyst and thiohydracrylic acid aspromoter, with methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, acetophenone, fluorenone ando-phenyl phenol reaction respectively synthesis of other Bis (o-phenyl phenol)methane compounds. Stsuied on the the effects of ratio of raw materials, catalystdosage, reaction temperature, reaction time, solvent in the reaction. Studies the synthesis of Bis (o-phenyl phenol) methane compounds optimal conditions.
