The study of coordination-driven self-assembled polymeric metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a very active interdisciplinary research area. Self-assembly of organic ligands and inorganic metal ions is one of the most efficient and widely used approaches for the construction of organic-inorganic composite materials. Recently, remarkable progress has been made in the area of molecular inorganic-organic hybrid polymers. The synthesis and characterization of infinite one-, two-, three-dimensional networks have been an area of rapid growth. In this thesis, a series of conjugated fulvene ligands and bent ligands bridged, respectively, by 1, 3, 4-Oxadiazole, 1, 3, 4-Thiadiazole were synthesized. The coordination chemistry based on these new ligands and metal ions was investigated. 33 new coordination compounds were prepared and fully characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, IR, elemental analysis, luminescent properties were also investigated.I. The coordination chemistry based on a series of new type of conjugated fulvene ligands and inorganic Co(II),Zn(II),Mn(II) salts has been investigated. Three new coordination polymers were synthesized based on them. The results indicate that the different N-containing templates and metal ions have great influence on the final structure of the product. Their luminescent properties were investigated in the solid state.II. The coordination chemistry based on 1, 3, 4-Oxadiazole bridging ligands and inorganic Mn(II),Co(II),Cu(II),Pd(II) salts has been investigated in solution reaction. Twenty three new coordination polymers were synthesized based on them. The results indicate that the coordination patterns of the ligands, the weak interaction between molecules have great influence on the final structure of the product. Their luminescent properties were investigated in the solid state.III. Two new coordination polymers were synthesized. The coordination chemistry based on 1, 3, 4-Thiadiazole bridging ligands and inorganic Ag(I),Cu(II),Zn(II) salts has been investigated in solution reaction, and seven coordination polymers were obtained. The results indicate that the solvent molecules, anions, the weak interaction between molecules have great influence on the final structure of the product. Their single crystal structures and luminescent properties were investigated in the solid state.IV. Two supramolecular networks were synthesized and they provide the opportunity for the study of novel physical properties. This study demonstrated that the use of fulvene-type organic spacers and bent ligands bridged by 1, 3, 4-Oxadiazole, 1, 3, 4-Thiadiazole ligands as precursors to bind transition metal ions, is in fact a new and efficient approach for synthesis of novel supramolecular networks with interesting physical properties, it also provides the opportunity for the host-guest chemistry study.
