Synthesis And Characterization Of Germanium, Tin, And Lead Carbene Complexes

A series of monomeric germylene, stannylene and plumbylene [Me₂Si(DippN)₂M:](M=Ge Sn and Pb; Dipp=2,6-iPr2C6H3) have been prepared with the bulky ligand [Me₂Si(DippN)₂]^2- by the salt elimination and transamination. Preliminary atom-transfer chemistry involving [Me₂Si(DippN)₂Ge:] with oxygen yielded a dimeric oxo-complex [Me₂Si(DippN)₂GeO]₂. All complexes are air- and moisture-sensitive but thermally stable as monomeric forms. The complexes were characterized by ¹HNMR, ¹³CNMR, IR, element analysis.in addition to X-ray crystallography.
