As a complicated multidentate ligand, theβ-diketone ligands and their derivatives have played a significant role in the realm of modern coordination chemistry, crystal engineering, supramolecular chemistry and have attracted considerable attention.In this dissertation, the study for (3-diketonate complexes has been reviewed. Twoβ-diketone derivative ligands and seven metal complexes were synthesized.This thesis consists of the following three parts:Part 1:Threeβ-diketone ligands:2-(3-oxo-3-phenyIpropionyl)-6-pyridine-carboxylic acid (H2L1),2,6-bis(3-oxo-3-phenylpropionyl)-pyridine (H2L2). Two tetranuclear compounds have been synthesized in conventional synthestic condition with ligand H2L1: [Co4L4(DMF)(H2O)3]·2.5DMF·3H2O(1),[Zn4L4(DMF)(H2O)3]·2.5DMF·3H2O(2). The UV spectrums and thermal stability were discussed in this paper. One transition coordination compound have been synthesized based on ligand HL3:[Zn2(L3)4(C5H5N)4]·C5H5N(3).Part 2:Two transition-rare-earth heterometallic compounds have been synthesized based on ligand H2L2:[Ni2Eu(L2)2(HCO2)2(DMF)(NO3)(H2O)]·H2O (4) [Ni2Sm(L2)2(HCO2)2(DMF)(NO3)(H2O)]·H2O(5). We also studied their UV spectrums and thermal stability.Part 3:Two transition coordination compounds have been synthesized based on ligand H4btc:[Co2(btc)(phen)(H2O)2]·H2O (6),[Mn2(btc)(phen)4]·7H2O(7), The UV spectrums and thermal stability were discussed in this paper.
