Polyurethane, a polymer with unique processing performance, is synthesized by polyisocyanate with terminal NCO groups and polyol with terminal OH groups. Due to its good foaming ability. elasticity, low temperature resistance, abrasion resistance and biological aging, polyurethane is widely used in electronics, vehicles, airplane, ship, construction. textile and light industry, its production and varieties has increased, polyurethane has an extremely important position in the materials industry. So, many countries are striving to develop polyurethane industry. Products in polyurethane industry contain foam. coatings. elastomers. fibers. adhesives, synthetic leather, pavement materials, and so on. Polyurethane industry in China began in 1950s, it has nearly 60 years of development history. Polyurethane industry has been developing rapidly for its excellent performance and a wide range of applications. However, a significant increase in the consumption of polyurethane, but also generated a lot of polyurethane waste, including the polyurethane scrap in production process and various post-use materials. So, the recycling of waste polyurethane has become an urgent problem.Currently, the recycling technologies of polyurethanes can be classified into energy conversion, physical recycling, and chemical recycling. While chemical recycling of polyurethane waste has been the focus and direction. This paper studied chemical recycling of waste spandex and polyurethane shoe sole components:waste spandex and polyurethane shoe sole components were respectively degraded with diethylene glycol, and the glycolysis conditions were optimized by using response surface methodology; meanwhile waste spandex was degraded with an ester, a component with NCO was obtained, and the reaction conditions were optimized; the recycling production was attempted to prepare new polyurethane products, and the corresponding performance test of some products showed that:although its mechanical properties are not good as the properties of polyurethane products made with pure PTMG, it can meet the basic performance requirements.
