In this article, take waste red mud provided from an aluminum plant in Shandong and industrial hydrochloric acid as raw materials, using the most simple chemical precipitation method, having a complex sequence of isolated the different non-metal and metal compounds (silicon oxide, iron oxide red, aluminum hydroxide, and anhydrous calcium chloride) from the composition of the red mud , and to be purified.According to exploratory test and single-factor test results,determine the main factors which impact extracting useful elements from red mud: reaction temperature, reaction time and solid-liquid mass ratio. To study the influence of the different factors on the extraction rate of useful elements, design and conduct the orthogonal test, finally determine the optimal experimental conditions: solid-liquid mass ratio is 1:3, the reaction temperature is 50℃, reaction time is 90min。By experiment and test characterization, conduct theoretical analysis about the influence of the main factors on the extraction rate of useful elements, test results and theory analysis are coincident. Described briefly about the nature and applications of extracted material. Experimental study and theoretical analysis show that the experimental process is feasible, technical route is correct, being able to achieve the comprehensive recovery and utilization of all the useful component of red mud, and can't produce other waste any longer in the entire recovery process. The research results will be guidance and reference for follow-up pilot and industrial mass production.
